I recently got an iPad and by turning on contacts in the iCloud setting on each device my contacts from my iPhone appeared on the iPad and stay synced. I also did the reminders, calendar, and messages the same way so all stay synced.

About the mail. I was having a horrible time with a couple of my gmail accounts. The inbox would come up empty and all mail was in the trash. I tried all kinds of things but fixed the problem finally. I use Windows Live Mail on my Windows computer to access the mail using pop and imap on the phone. In properties, advanced there is a setting to check whether to leave the email on the server after downloading. I had this checked to delete the emails after downloading with pop so they went to the trash. By checking this properly the mail now appears in the inbox on my phone. There is also a setting where you can leave the mail in the inbox for a set number of minutes such as 5. This could cause the mail to disappear from the inbox on the phone after the set amount of time. So if you or your friend is using Windows Live Mail in addition to the iPhone check out these settings. It took me weeks to figure it out but I am tenacious.

Sieghard, no, I have not gotten contacts synced. I have contacts on in both devices under account as you directed. I also put my info into the iPad in case it needed that to sync. Now I am waiting. Maybe iCloud needs to do the sync?

Hi Reggie,

I think the important word in your email is "quickly". She tries to do
something quickly and instead does something unintended. If she swipes
quickly to go to the next message and accidently switches the action rotor
to delete and then double taps to open the message she will delete the
message instead.
I have not seen any strange behavior in iOS 7.03 regarding this nor read
anything on the list in the last week where somebody elese reported this. I
can guarantee that iOS doesn't randomly delete emails whether read or
unread.

Were you able to turn on Contacts and get them to sync to your iPad?

Thank you Sieghard! This was the problem with my contacts. Will try to
ascertain further info from my friend when we Facetime later, but I know she
is using VO and that she had no problem until 7. Now it has become worse
with 703. She said it deleted right under her fingers as she was trying to
skip quickly through an email besides just putting them in trash when she
had never read them.

Hi Regina,

You are a gmail user, correct? Are you not syncing your contacts with Google
Contacts? You can go to Settings, Mail, Contacts and Calendar, then double
tap on your gmail account and see if Contacts is turned on. If not then turn
it on on both your iPhone and iPad and your contacts should sync without you
having to do anything.

As for your friend having emails disappear, I suspect that somehow she uses
sloppy touch gestures and is actually deleting them. Is this person using
Voiceover?

Subject: iPad, two questions, thanks

Two questions about iPad, not sure of number but bought around Apr. 2012.

1. This is for a friend, but I may be having the same difficulty. She has a
yahoo account. Mine is gmail. She is asking why after 7 and now 703 is her
mail being put into trash without her deleting it. As she goes down the
list, it disappears or if she goes into trash there will be unread mail.
Also she said she was reading an email and it just disappeared as she was
touching the screen to go through it quickly. Any thought? I delete a lot of
mail so not positive this is happening with my device.
2. Now that I have my iPad out of prison and have all apps and such, only
thing that did not transfer were my contacts. Is there a way to sync my
contacts from my phone to iPad without wiping my iPad again and re-syncing?
Will I have to put them in by hand?

Thanks for all your help in advance!
