Hi;

Upgrade and, don't look back.

When you have Voiceover volume where you want it, just remove the volume 
adjustment from the rotor and then, you should not be able to adjust the volume.

Maybe David or, Esther can confirm this.

As far as fingerprint issues are concerned, just make a backup and, you'll be 
good to go.
