At the end of the day, It comes to this. Either, some that see reason,
supporting the developer to keep it going, or like some insist, as a
blind user, you are entitle to freebies. If you are the second lots of
people, well, move on to some other free apps like VizWiz, or source
it with other app.
I've mention on another TapTapSee topic that i'll be willing, to pay
$8 for 8C per picture for what TapTapSee can done for me. I'm not a
heavy user, or by all means a regular user. The time that i used
TapTapSee, on a bookstore to get title of a book and on a cafe to read
the menu, i am very impress with the result and how speedy things are.
As far as how many pics you need to take for the accuracy, that is
nothing to do with the developer, but have a lot to do with how
skillful you are on taking the picture, e.g. correct angle, not to
close not too far, and correct brightness etc.
For those that complain about the price, well, $10 per month may seems
a lot, compare to your GPS subscription, but how often do you use your
GPS App, compare to how often you use TapTapSee?
Also, by paying the app, i hope, the users of the app will be more
serious on what they taking, instead of randem pictures that i know
some of blind people take, of some body part, or some slightly R Rated
photo just "to test it out".
One willing to pay $$$ f or a big mac, but not willing to pay 35C per
day to support the app? again, because, "blind user are entitle to
freebies" kind of attitude?
Do the math yourself. $10 per month is less than 35C per day for
unlimited service. or $8 per 100 image which is 8C per image.
The way i see it is that, TapTapSee is waiting for too long to charge
for the app. Like some said earlier, if TapTapSee charges by the word
'go, i wonder, if people will still whining about it as if there is no
tomorrow.

Hello TapTapSee team, this is a very good App it helps us to make our
independency better. I am very grateful to you for developing this App.
Please don't you ever think of shutting this up. Those who can afford to
pay
will benefit by this wonderful App, those who cannot, will not have it
that's all. As I said earlier in India, many blind people are not good
financially. I bought this IPhone 5 under a loan. Thinking of all these
great Apps. But now I have to think twice or thrice, But, it is very
sad,
that we have to pay. Regards Ruby

Hello,
I'd like to address the TapTapSee's transition from a free app to a
subscription service. Due to the high costs of image recognition, we were
forced to change TapTapSee into a subscription based service. The
subscriptions are being introduced over the next few days. We offer two
options. Option 1) 100 Picture Pack for $7.99 with no time limit. Option
2)
1 Month of Unlimited Pictures for $9.99. The purchase is done through
your
Apple iTunes account. If you choose, for example, the 1 month unlimited
pack, then you will be prompted with a message to renew after that time
period runs out. We tried to keep TapTapSee for free as long as we could,
and we were able to do it for over a year, but unfortunately we're facing
a
situation where we either need to transition to a paid subscription, or
shut
the app down completely.
Best Wishes,

Has anyone else noticed that now when you go to use TapTapSee, you get a
message stating you need to purchase credits to use their app? I think it
was $7.99 for 100 pictures or $9.99 for unlimited per month. Hope this
doesn't end up hurting them. I would pay for the app but not sure I will
be
doing credits. What does everyone else think?
