Another way to set the speech is perhaps by having a different voice for reading. e.g. Have Daniel, the british voice to read books, set the speech to 70% or whatever you fancy, and have Samantha as your default voice, set it to 100% or something. To set individual voices, you need to go to setting; General; Accessibility; Voiceover; Language, and have spacific setting for spacific voice.
