Well, I tried Twitterrific. So far I really like it overall. It works mostly the same as Tweetlist for me, bu here are the advantages I've seen: 1. It saves your place in the timeline, something that Tweetlist never seemed to do well for me. 2. Notifications are immediate. 3. If you get a notification while the app is open, Voiceover says who it was and what they did (@JohnSm,ith replied to you). 4. I love the unified timeline, so mentions from people I don't follow appear alongside other tweets, just like my favorite Mac client. 5. In Tweetlist, you have to do three gestures to save a URL to a read later service, something I do a great deal. In Twitterrific, it is only two gestures, plus you can save to Safari's reading list. Tweetlist 4 may well do this, I don't know, but the saving of an extra gesture each time is great.
The main problem I can see, aside from the lack of streaming support (which the dev says is coming) is the tap and hold. To open the menu to do something with a URL in a tweet, you have to double tap and hold, but there is no way to do that on a braille display. I asked the developers if they would consider adding a way to customize what a triple tap does, and they said they would write it down. Overall, though, I think I like Twitterrific better. I don't at all mind paying for the new Tweetlist, and that is not why I switched. I just figured I'd spend a few bucks anyway, so I'd see if Twitterrific was better since so many people seem to like it so much.
