Tessa,

POP3 was never meant to be a protocol to be used on multiple devices where
really what you want is to sync your mail. I think nowadays where people
have laptops, tablets and smartphones and maybe want to access their mail on
the web from time to time that services like Outlook.com or Gmail are the
way to go. The advantage with one of these services also is that you are
independent from your ISP and if you ever move or even just change ISP you
don't have to worry about changing your email address, letting all your
contacts know about the new address and updating all the log-ins where you
used it.
Personally I think Outlook.com which uses Exchange Active Sync is a better
protocol than IMAP, but I'm sure others have different opinions.

Regards,
Sieghard

Thanks both of you.
yes the screen off issue is a very small problem.
The email is a little more signifficant because I have almost 3000 messages
and often when I open my mail and it checks for new mail I have to wait
minutes before I can actually get the screen to do anything. I touch it and
it doesn't respond until some time later when i get repeated clicks. Once
the clicks have been gone through than I can access the screen, but
sometimes it takes a while.
Well my ISP recently suggested due to it upgrading that we all switch to
imap? but I haven't and am still using pop3 and I assume since my phone
picked up my email settings from my pc that it is also using pop3.
Anyway, thanks again.
