I haven't seen how to do this either, and when I want to delete the contents of a message when replying, I just do what Richard does.

Although, there are a lot of good reasons to do this, I myself do find it frustrating when people don't include the message thread when they're replying to a message on list. In those cases, I frequently have no idea what was asked originally or if what I want to contribute has already been mentioned or not.

Also, if you want to start a new thread, you also don't want to do a reply and end up hijacking another thread. This makes it tougher to catch everything when using a threaded email client.

For these reasons, I guess I'm glad the default it what it is, and if there is a way to change this behavior, I hope people are cautious when they do change it.

Hi Mary,
I hadn't seen any replies to your note.
I have not found a way either.
When I know a reply is going to include a very long conversation I've
started to do a select all, then delete before writing my reply.
Though, I have to admit, most of the time I just reply.

If anyone discovers a way to do this, it would be nice to know.

Richard

Subject: How to tell the mail app not to include messages when you reply

Is there really no way to tell the mail app on an iPhone or an iPad that you
do not wish to include the full message to which you are replying? You can
do it on the Mac, but if it's available here on the phone, I'm sure not
finding it.
Mary
