Hi Chris I hear what you are saying but I would have thought that Apple would have shown something in the "about" setting section where one can distinguish the devices. In a year or so there would be an iPad mini 3 and then sharks can easily sell an iPad 2 representing its an iPad 3 if there is not some of an identification method. Regards Fanus
