Connect the iOS device to the computer. Run iTunes if it does not start automatically. Select the iDevice in the list. The first radial button is summary. If the device has been connected to the computer before, iTunes should automatically back up the device. If not, run a back up to ensure all data on the device is secure. After this is complete, activate the check for update button. iTunes will do everything else automatically after the agreements are agreed to.
