Turn off WIFI and Bluetooth and you'll save a lot.

There isn't any differences in battery life with 7.1 verses previous
versions that I have noticed and I have an iPhone 4, an iPhone 5s and a iPad
Air. On my iPad Air they say it gets 10.5 hours use. I can get slightly
better then that but I suspect that's just my Air and how I use it rather
than any other earth shaking factor.
