Paula, before you or your husband begin a repeat book scanning project,
could you provide a few more details?

1. What did your husband use to scan the books the first time around? It
sounds from your message as if he used his iPad 2 to scan them but that
seems overwhelming and maybe an incorrect assumption on my part.
2. If a computer was used to do the original scan, are the scanned books not
still on it?
3. What format were the scanned books? Were they plain text or something
else?
4. Even though you were not successful in getting the books from your iTunes
to his new iPad Mini, it sounds as if you might have been successful in
getting the books into iTunes on your computer. Can you confirm this?

Depending on your answers to the above, I would think you should be able to
get the books either from a computer or your husband's old iPad 2 provided
iTunes can recognize it, you've synced its applicable content to the
computer running iTunes, and iTunes recognizes the new iPad Mini. Figuring
out the steps to make this work should take a whole lot less time than
re-scanning the books again.

Subject: Restoring Voicedream data to new iPad

My husband and I recently purchased a new mini iPad to replace his older
iPad 2. My husband had a number of books which he had got from the local
library and scanned in Voicedream Reader, as well as some bookshar e books.
The Bookshare books present no problem, since he can simply re-download them
onto his new iPad.
However, although I have followed the instructions as to using the
File-sharing table in iTunes to first save the Voicedream data from his old
iPad, and then add the files to iTunes so that they may be transferred to
the new device, I have not been successful in restoring the data.
Unfortunately, he did not have iCloud enabled on his old device, so we are
unable to restore the data from a backup.
He is not as fanatically attached to backing up as am I, so I realize that
we may just have to bite the bullet and re-scan the books. However, , I
figured it wouldn't hurt to ask here in case anyone had an idea..
Thanks in advance for reading this, and for any help provided.

Regards,
Paula Mack
