I'm thinking I'm misreading your message David, but I log on to my routers over wifi and change the wifi settings all of the time. Of course, you run the risk that if you mess things up that when the new settings go into effect you'll lose you're connection to the router, but if you know what you're doing, this shouldn't be a problem. I even have an app on my iPhone to control my NetGear router.

Normally, the wifi access to the router's web control interface can only be
accessed via direct connection to the router through USB or ethernet. If
concerned about this, the setting is usually in the wireless or security pages
of the interface.

The greater concern should be the default login and password. Most people do
not change these defaults.

Hello Folks,

I am not sure if one would consider this OT, but with all of the security
risks recently, I was wondering if someone on this list can direct me on how
to check and if necessary turn off the remote feature in my router I know
the router's address, so that's not the issue. Once this page is open, where
would one look to find this option? Please forgive me if this is considered
OT, but I wasn't sure where to post this message, since it could affect all
of us either running Macs, PCs, or our iOS devices.

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,
Eileen
