Hello Les, Another thing to look for which could help you determine if you are connected to your wi-fi network is when you are in the Wi-Fi setting screen, VO should say "selected" before announcing the name of said network. If it doesn't, you are likely not connected. However, the absence of a Wi-Fi identification in the status bar is a dead giveaway.
