You can Google “iPhone battery saving tips”, you’ll find lots of articles. Some of the more obvious things are to turn off WiFi and Bluetooth, turn off location services for the apps you don’t need it for, turn of push notifications for apps you don’t need it for.
Also removing all apps from the app switcher occasionally and turning off your phone and turning it on again helps to clear up things. Setting email accounts to get mail manually or to fetch mail only once an hour or so helps a little bit. Keep in mind that your 4S if it’s one of the original ones, does have a battery which is now over two and a half years old and it won’t be as good as when it was new. Also make sure you are upgraded to iOS 7.1.1 in case you are not, some people report that iOS 7.1.1 has increased their battery life.
