With IOS 7, apps do not automatically close simply when you hit the home button. You have to close them in the app switcher.

I do however remove all running apps from the switcher when I'm not using them. Somebody told me to do that long ago and I've sort of made it a practice. It wouldn't hurt to try it out. Hit the home button twice quickly to open the switcher. left or right to see the running apps. When you hear the name of an app announced such as phone, flick up with 3 fingers to close the app. When you hear the word home, you've closed all open apps. Then just hit the home button 1 time to exit the switcher. I keep my screen brightness set to 30 percent. From time to time my wife wants to borrow my phone and hates it when she can't see the screen. I told her I don't see what your problem is, I can't see it either! Not funny she says! Oh well I tried. HTH Regards, Alan I told my psychiatrist that everyone hates me. He said I was being ridiculous - everyone hasn't met me yet. The albums in Technics format formerly on my website are still available upon request. I have to keep a check on this since it will turn itself back on. I had hoped that the 7.1.1 update would fix this, but it has not. I don’t know that others are eexperiencing the same issue that I am having or not. This was not a problem in the past, and why it happens now I do not know. Good luck. I’ve put the brightness down to zero. Turned auto brightness off. Anything else I could be doing? -- The following information is important for all members of the viphone list.
