I completely agree, Christopher. Also, blindness GPS apps can provide a level of intersection announcement that mainstream maps solutions simply would not know about. Also, with blindness specific GPS apps you can get different information from multiple apps in tandem, and you can lock your screen which I deem to be much more secure. In most cases, you also do not have to be operating the screen of your phone while you are walking, to find necessary information.
