Sieghard,

The cuts and residue on fingers is the reason why I scanned 3 fingers in one
hand and the thumb and index in my left hand. That way, no matter what,
there is always a finger that works. I mostly use my right index or right
thumb but, if needed, I have 3 other fingers.
I never lend my phone to anyone so I didn't need any spare print
possibilities. If a telephone is shared, well, you can't use them all
yourself

Hi Kawal,

When you say you set up a number of prints, do you mean you set up different
fingers or did you scan the same finger on several of the available 5 spots?
When I first got my 5S I read somewhere that the recognition is more
successful if you scan, for example, your right thumb on 2 or 3 of the
available 5 spots. I did this and just as with you it worked well for a bit
and then it got worse. After the 7.1 update which was supposed to bring
improved recognition it actually got worse for me. Then at one point I
decided I would delete all my prints again and start over. I did this and
set up my right thumb just on the first fingerprint spot. Ever since this my
recognition rate is I would say very close to 100% and also much faster. I
think having scanned my thumb 3 times on different spots just caused the
processor to do unnecessary calculations and it apparently did more harm
than good. I also found that the success rate is much better if you don't
use the very tip of your finger but use the pad of your finger sort of half
way between the fingertip and the first joint. I only use the fingertip when
it asks you to scan the edges of your finger.
Like I said, I couldn't be happier now, it's fast and works absolutely
fantastically with the only exception being when I just done a bunch of
woodworking and I might have little cuts on my finger, glue residue or stuff
like that, but that's to be expected.

Regards,
Sieghard

Hello.

Has anyone experienced the following with their 5 S Fingerprint?

I for example have set up a number of fingerprints on my 5S and a week
later, none of them are recognised. This has happened to me since I bought
my I phone from the Apple store. Well as I've sold this phone now so that I
can buy my next I phone from the Apple Store when it's out hope that the
Fingerprint will work better.

Thanks.

Kawal.
