My fingerprint reader always works for me. Knock on wood, but it works 100% of the time. I only have to enter the four-digit code when I restart my phone. I used to have trouble with it until I discovered that if I place my finger on the home button for only a moment and then lift my finger. It always works. However, if I press and hold my finger on the scanner button until my phone is unlocked then it works about 50% of the time. Sorry, it's hard to explain. My husband's phone works exactly as mine. If he puts his finger to the home button and lifts it, the phone will unlock without any problems.
