Hi David,

The Apple TV is a small device which connects to your TV or home theatre
receiver via an HDMI connection. It also has 1 digital optical output so if
you want only audio and have a receiver or amplifier which has a digital
optical input you could hook it up that way.
The Apple TV is actually an iOS device which means it has it's own version
of iOS and it has Voiceover and is fully accessible as a stand-alone item.
The Apple TV is also an Airplay device which means you can stream content
from your iPhone or other iDevice to it via Airplay.
Apart from that it connects to your iTunes library on your computer although
you have to have iTunes running on your computer for that to work and home
sharing must be on.
The Apple TV also allows you to watch Youtube videos and it's probably the
easiest and most accessible interface to Netflix if you are a subscriber of
course.
You can also listen to internet radio stations, podcasts and you can buy and
rent music, movies and TV shows with it.
There is also a growing list of TV channels you can watch, some of which are
free others require you to have a subscription of some sort.

Below is the link to the Apple TV information on the Apple website where you
can read all about it:
http://www.apple.com/AppleTV

The Apple TV costs $99 in the US, but I would probably not buy one right now
because there are a lot of rumours about a new Apple TV coming out possibly
this fall.

Regards,
Sieghard
