Alan, The pronunciation of names by SIRI has nothing to do with Alex, the new Voiceover voice (new on iDevices at least). Apple has not said anything about new SIRI voices so I would say they stay the same.

I'm looking forward to hearing that new voice who adds breath sounds for more realism. I'd rather have a better voice though but we'll see heh! Ask Siri to "Contact x" (where X is the person with the oddly spoken name). 2. Regardless of Siri's answer, press the Home button to essentially cancel the request. 3. Now, press the Home button once again and say the following to Siri: That is not how you pronounce X. Note: remember, X is the person's unusual name. 4. Siri will ask you: "Ok, how do you pronounce the name X?" Siri will wait for an answer, so go ahead and say out loud the person's name. 5. After saying the person's name, the next prompt you will get is Siri asking: "Ok, thank you, which pronunciation should I use?" 6. At this point use a 4-finger single tap to go to the top of the screen and swipe to the right to read the screen. When you reach "Play option 1" you will double-tap to hear the new Siri pronunciation. You will probably get three choices, so listen to them in the same way just described. when you are ready to make a choice simply double-tap on the "Select button" associated with the desired option. 7. You will be asked to choose a pronunciation for any remaining parts of the person's name such as left middle and last name. 8. When the process has completed, you will hear one of two messages: "Thanks for correcting me on that, I'll pronounce it as X from now on." or "Great, I'll pronounce it "X" from now on." If you are not presented with these Siri replies, it is likely the changes did not go through so try again. 9. If all went well, press the Home button to close any remaining Siri screen. 10. Now test your pronunciation changes by asking Siri "Contact x." You should hear Siri speak the new name. If you can get this feature to work, it is very, very cool! I could not get this to work. Hoping someone will post better instructions. <Smile>. For now, its definitely possible as this YouTube video demonstrates: ? Teach Siri to Pronounce Contact Names Correctly in iOS 7 - iPhone [How-To] - YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hPcYB3bysFQ Here are the written instructions: Teaching Siri How to Say Complicated Names If you want to teach her how to properly pronounce a name, just open up Siri and tell her, "That's not how you pronounce [name goes here]." From there, she'll give you several options as to who's name you want her to learn, if she doesn't already recognize it. As an example, I used Marielle Escobar from my contacts. Siri pronounces the first name as Marielle, when it should be pronounced Mary-Lee, so I opened up Siri and said "That's not how you pronounce Marielle." Siri then asks me, "OK, how do you pronounce the name (Marielle)?" I then pronounce the name the correct way (Mary-Lee) and Siri gives me three options to choose from, all slight variations of Mary-Lee, if not exact replicas. If none of those sound correct, you can tell Siri again. If an option works, press Select. Once you select it, Siri will ask you about the last name. You can pronounce it as well, even if it's already correct. It will then do the same thing again, giving you three options to choose from. Once you're done, Siri will say, "Great, I'll pronounce it "First Name, Last Name" and you'll be ready to go. No more Siri massacring our exotic names. http://ios.wonderhowto.com/how-to/make-siri-pronounce-contact-names-correctl y-ios-7-0148665/ Joseph the free tech guy! -- The following information is important for all members of the viphone list.
