Hi Annie,

Unfortunately, the answer is no. it really only tracks your movement in the
water as if you were walking, and there is no keeping track of time.

I’m not sure if there is such a tracking device out there.

Good luck.

Hi Lois.

I love swimming, and I would like something that can go into the water and
track some information, how long I have been swimming, can that device be used
for that.

Best regards Annie.

  Hi,

It is true that the Flex is supposed to be worn on your wrist. If I’m going
to be walking, I usually attach the band to my shoe or sandal so it will record
my steps. Around the house, I figure it doesn’t matter so much. There are
plenty of steps I take while carrying something, so if it thinks I’m stepping
when I’m actually cleaning, it doesn’t much matter. I even wear it during my
water aerobics class. It doesn’t cover my actual steps in the pool, but my
arms are always moving, so I think it is close enough.

I agree with Linda that knowing how many steps you take helps to do more. I
get my 10,000 one way or the other. If on my treadmill, holding the hand rail,
I attach it to my shoe.

I also like the silent alarms you can set up. The Flex vibrates. You can
set up 5 per day, and setting it up is completely accessible on your phone.

I have both my Flex and Aria synced with my fitness pal app, and I log my
food into that. In my fitness pal, you can see your progress, and because Flex
tells the app what I’ve done, it can include the calories I really have taken
in and the ones I’ve used. My fitness pal also shows my weight.

I apologize for the long post. I’d be happy to answer anything off list. My
e-mail is at the bottom.

  Good luck,
  Lois

  Hi Terrie,

I have the Fit Bit Zip. The Zip can be clipped to your clothing and is, in my
opinion, the best pedometer that I have used. It also allows you to track
calories burned and duration of exercise. I have to admit, I have not used the
logging for food. I am torn between staying with Weight Watchers and trying the
food logging available through Fit Bit.

I did have to set up my account online before registering my Zip.

One of the reasons I chose the Zip instead of the Fit Bit Flex was the
potential for the flex to interpret hand motion as a step. I can’t remember
whether that was mentioned here on the list or if I read it on FitBit.com

The Zip is $59 at most places and the Flex is $99. I purchased my Zip
atdrugstore.com. You receive 5% back and I received an additional 8% back
shopping through extrabux.com.

I have had my Zip registered since July 5th. This week I will log over
300,000 steps. It has definitely helped me to be more active.

  Hello everyone!
I would like to monitor activity level and weight, and perhaps callory
intake. I have done Google and AppleVis searches but haven't found info about
which apps and external sensors work with Voice Over. If anyone, perhaps Lois
or others, who uses a combination of apps and sensors that work would be
willing to give a basic explanation of what they use and any workarounds they
have discovered to make their equipment and apps accessible, I would very much
appreciate it. Thanks for any help you all can give.
  Best,
  Terrie Terlau

Can anyone using the flex enlighten me please?
  The very best to all!
