There's an addition to this placement of fingers sort of sequentialy:- It can only recognise up to 5 fingers at once, and not always then, so Y or & sometimes take this technique, and the FOR or full 6dots can only be done by holding most and tapping the rest, before lifting the held fingers to activate that symbol.
Hope that made sense. Also, remember, with MBraille, it’s the release of your fingers from the screen that activate the cell input, and not the initial touch. So, while you’re learning, if you’re entering the letter p, you can put all fingers down at the same time, if you want, or you can put left fingers 1, then 2 then 3 down, and finally right finger 1. Then, release all at the same time, which activates the input. It took me awhile to get this. If you select table mode, the dots would be in kind of a v since there really isn’t room to have the dots go from left to right and you would have the phone flat on the table. I like the Away mode. That way, you hold the phone with the screen facing away from you with the home button pointed to your right. So, you wrap your hands around the phone with your thumbs on the top where the volume buttons are now pointing and your little fingers under the other side. Your palms are against the ends of the phone. If you then curl your index, middle and ring fingers like someone would play an accordion, your left index finger would be dot 1, just like on the Perkins. If you turn on the tutorial mode in the settings, it will tell you when you hit the various dots. Then, you can turn tutorial mode off once you get the hang of it. One thing I didn't like about MBraille was that there was no feedback like you got with the normal touch Typing keyboard. Thanks. Kawal. It Is one of my most used apps. However, having said this, since iOS 8 isn’t far away, I would wait for it and see what the braille is like there. I have had a quick play and you need to turn the rotor to the braille keyboard every time you want to use it and some contractions did have issues. But this was only a beta and it will probably improve by the time we see it. I can still see myself using Braille even when iOS 8 is out for certain things and will use the iOS braille keyboard at other times. Cheers, Brett. So, mBraille is still very actively supported, used, and better documents than it might first appear, for the sake of looking. I use that one as I like the additional editing features. Sure, they're trying to stretch the envelope with .commands, but would prefer they make the basic functionality, bombProof first. Ok, consistent across modes and more consistent access to the less used characters we scribblers and techies have to use more than most. I had an old Braille 'n Speak and that had a good line in braille input and interpretation. Rh. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Donald L. I know about Fleksy, M-Braille, braille commands, and possibly others of which I am unfamiliar. So if you would, please let me know which of these programs you like best and also why you prefer them. Is it just me, or do others also find there is precious little documentation for some of these programs? I don't mind using trial and error for a while, but it does get tedious.
