hi all. i just was playing around with m braille. i red the instructions and have a question. is there a way to have the braille set up like it would be on a standerd perkins style brailler? by that i meen to have the dots 1 through 4 on the left and dots 5 through 6 on the right? since i was putting my hands on the screen the same way i would on a brailler and couldn't seem to get the hang of it. since i think i had the dots up and down insted of across the screen. when ever i think of braille wrighting on the eye phone i have in my mind the way that a old braille and speek was set up with the standerd perkins style keybord but i can't seem to figgure it out on the phone.i had the phone with the home butten to my riht and even to my left and that is the way i would feel most compterable brailling on the phone if i could get the hang of it. from Mich. ----- Original Message ----- From: Kawal Gucukoglu To: [email protected] Sent: Friday, August 22, 2014 10:40 AM Subject: Re: Braille input program opinions sought
I'd like to see that when you write Braille in future using M Braille that it makes the same sound if you were doing touch Typing using the normal keyboard. One thing I didn't like about MBraille was that there was no feedback like you got with the normal touch Typing keyboard. Thanks. Kawal. However, having said this, since iOS 8 isn’t far away, I would wait for it and see what the braille is like there. I have had a quick play and you need to turn the rotor to the braille keyboard every time you want to use it and some contractions did have issues. But this was only a beta and it will probably improve by the time we see it. I can still see myself using Braille even when iOS 8 is out for certain things and will use the iOS braille keyboard at other times. Cheers, Brett. I think it would be best to wait until IOS 8 comes out if possible. Mbraille is a bit expensive, and we do not know how things will work in IOS 8. I use MBraille in Away Mode, and hold my phone against my body, arms bent so my hands can rest on the screen with my thumbs and pinkies supporting the device. I can't type forever, but I can easily write a normal email or something equally long, and dashing off texts or tweets is a snap. Table Mode, where you use the device on a flat surface, is not really doable for me either, but perhaps a different position will help you? So, mBraille is still very actively supported, used, and better documents than it might first appear, for the sake of looking. I use that one as I like the additional editing features. Sure, they're trying to stretch the envelope with .commands, but would prefer they make the basic functionality, bombProof first. Ok, consistent across modes and more consistent access to the less used characters we scribblers and techies have to use more than most. I had an old Braille 'n Speak and that had a good line in braille input and interpretation. Rh. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Donald L. I know about Fleksy, M-Braille, braille commands, and possibly others of which I am unfamiliar. So if you would, please let me know which of these programs you like best and also why you prefer them. Is it just me, or do others also find there is precious little documentation for some of these programs? I don't mind using trial and error for a while, but it does get tedious.
