If KNFB Reader's ability to guide the user to take good pictures works as advertised then in my opinion it's worth the price. Don't forget many on the list have paid $15 to $20 for 2 or 3 different OCR apps and another $30 to $50 for some sort of stand like the Standscan or even more in the case of the Giraffe, to make it possible to take the best picture possible. Add that up and a lot of people have already spend $50 to $70 or $80 and compared to that KNFB Reader is not so much more. I too bought a Standscan, but while I might use it here and there at home, I just can't be bothered to bring it with me. For me being able to take good pictures and get good results free hand is definitely worth $99 especially since I explained how one can get this for at least 10% or even 20% less by buying a discounted iTunes gift card. With back to school they should be around.
