are you saying that the Itunes context is one of the context where
increased contrast is defaulted to the off condition?

doing this to your keyboard.  I think I recall someone saying that the only
place this setting is implemented is on the keyboard layout in only a few
different contexts.  Entering credentials for the app store is one of these
