Hello Haya,

If I understand your question correctly, like me, you want to delete the U2
album from your iCloud storage.

Well, the short answer is that you cannot delete it from iCloud unless you are
a iTunes Match subscriber. I know this sounds hard to believe but, according
to the folks at Apple, it is true.

The best we non-iTunes Match subscribers can do is to hide it from our local
devices.

If you perform a quick Google search you will find that many, many people, like
me, took great offense at Apple placing uninvited music in our accounts just so
they could manipulate release statistics.

The worst part is that we, as non-Match subscribers can’t get rid of it.

As I read on the web, someone wrote, “I’ll be damned if I’m going to pay $28
just to delete one album.”

Haya, you might try contacting iTunes directly and perhaps they’ll remove it
for you.

A friend of mine told me that, on October 14th, if you have not downloaded the
album, it should be automatically removed from your iCloud account.

When it’s all said and done, I think Apple really messed up on this; all they
had to do was to simply ask for permission before pushing the album to us. Of
course, if they had done that, my guess is that most people would have said no
and then they couldn’t call the release the largest release in history.

Just keep this in mind the next time you hear Apple boast about how much it
values its customer’s right to privacy.

Mark

I've deleted music before but I can't seem to get rid of it. What should I do?

Music you buy is like apps you buy and it has nothing to do with iTunes.
Anyhow, if you don’t download it to your iPhone or other iDevice it takes up no
space just like an app you once bought and deleted takes up no space, but it’s
still there in your purchase history for you to download if you want it.

Hi,

According to Kim Komando Apple did this but once it is in your ITunes you can't
get rid of it. And, it is taking up most of the memory on small memory IPhones.

Wow am I glad I almost never use ITunes.

I found it amusing to see the schtick Tim Cook pulled with that. It was fun,
and while I'm not fanatical about U2, I'll give it a listen. I thought the song
that was performed was pretty nice. But hey, if you don't like them, you can
remove them. It doesn't count against your iCloud space, though.

Don't worry, nothing was hacked. That was a stunt Apple pulled on Tuesday,
basically crediting every Apple ID tied to an iOS device with the album.
Instead of a code to download it, though, it essentially told iTunes that
everyone "bought" the album. It was free to everyone, and now everyone has it
in their purchase history. Surprise!

Hi,
I was going through my music and I discovered U2's latest album. I didn't buy
it and I have no credit in the iTunes Store. Have I been hacked somehow? Has
this happened to Anton else? Where did it come from? Could this have to do with
the extra iCloud space I just got? Help!
