Folks, Some of you may remember the accessibility alarm that some people sounded a couple of years ago when it "appeared" that the App Store was not going to be accessible in iOS 6 I believe. There was so much publicity about it that an article appeared on it from a mainstream tech website. This was a few days before iOS was released to the masses. When IOS 6 did come out, the App Store worked fine. I remember lots of similar conversations as now back then from those on blindness related blogs, websites, social media and other places, as to whether or not we should have been made aware that a part of iOS was not accessible. In the end it didn't matter since it was accessible, but there was also a feeling that people blew it out of proportion, especially since coverage of this drama appeared on a mainstream tech site.
Bottom line: let's wait until this Wednesday and see what works and what doesn't work. If it turns out that things are buggy with VoiceOver in iOS 8 then we can all report it to Apple. I'm sure that there have been plenty of people reporting these things to Apple, and Apple in turn I'm sure has done their part to squash those bugs. Am I worried that the bugs won't be squashed with iOS 8? Not really, since the big ones are all addressed, its just a matter of when. Plus, I will not update my current iPhone 5 until perhaps Friday or Saturday, mainly to avoid the rush of the "gotta have it" people the first day or two.
