Those are good reasons, too. Why pay $100 for something that a $10 app willdo? Not that I am against the KNFB reader, by any means. The fact is, it!is! expensive!! It does, however, certainly serve a purpose. It will bequite a while before I get it, but I am really thinking about it for thefuture. Not sure, but I may not renew my subscription to the SenderoGroup's app, based on how well this new version of "maps" eventually works,as I'm thinking that it is a project in the works. I do have other GPS appsthat are mainstream and considerably less expensive.

Charles I am one of those who would prefer to use a mainstream app if
it exists. The reasons for this are that they are sometimes updated
more frequently and that they are generally less expensive. The KNFB
reader and the GPS apps are both good examples of how expensive apps
are. I understand the reasons for this and don't want to get into a
huge debate. I am just expressing my reasons for preferring off the
shelf apps.

I don't understand why people seem to be against using apps and products
that are blind specific.  It seems like people avoid them like the plague,
and, in a lot of instances, you're not getting full advantage of your
device, such as an iPhone.  Some mainstream apps just don't work as well
for
a blind user.

I have tried the direct typing method, and i don't know what i think about

it really. I have now installed Fleksy something i thought i would neverdo

given that it was designed as a blind specific product in the first place,

but now when it's actually available in Swedish i can experience formyself

how powerful it really is. But that's also just an option amongst others.

Actually, you might be surprised.  What's useless for one may be the next
best thing for another.  Personally, I am rather excited about the direct
touch typing feature.  While I made quite a few mistakes within the first
three or four minutes of playing with it, my speed and accuracy picked up
dramatically within the hour.  For those whom muscle memory and spacial
orientation come more naturally, it's a pretty neat option.  But it's just
that, an option, and personally, I applaud Apple for giving us more of
them.
