That is your home screen, if you were able to close it, which you are not, what
would you have? Nothing. It is necessary for the home to run, it is just like
your desktop of your computer.

Subject: how to remove, or shut off, a real battery drainer?

When checking to see what is using how much power on my iPhone 5 using iOS8, I
see that "home" is using over 40 percent of my battery. In the app switcher,
it shows that "home" is running, but I cannot close it. Any thoughts from some
knowledgeable soul, or, the person in which it dwells??

Be positive! When it comes to being defeated, if you think you're finished,
you! really! are! finished!
