When looking through the privacy settings, for each app listed, there is a
choice between "never" and "always". Yet, some are set to "only while using".
This choice would be handy for a lot of apps, but the only two choices I see
are "always" and "never". Can someone let me know where the third option is?
Thanks.

  Hi Charles,

Yes, Home was always there since iOS 7 was released. 40% is fairly high, I
just checked mine and over the last 24 hours my home screen used up 11%. You
might want to check things like screen brightness and system services under
Privacy, Location Services. Make sure you turn things like cell search and
automatic time zone off. For a fairly extensive list of battery tricks you
should listen to the most recent Today in iOS podcast. Also handoff and
recommended apps will drain battery.

  Regards,

  Sieghard

It never showed up in the app switcher of iOS7.1.2 or lower, and I thought it
was something newly added. It sure is draining my battery.

That is your home screen, if you were able to close it, which you are not,
what would you have? Nothing. It is necessary for the home to run, it is just
like your desktop of your computer.

When checking to see what is using how much power on my iPhone 5 using
iOS8, I see that "home" is using over 40 percent of my battery. In the app
switcher, it shows that "home" is running, but I cannot close it. Any thoughts
from some knowledgeable soul, or, the person in which it dwells??
