I haven't used a screen protector in 4 years. I honestly don't see the point. As long as you don't throw your phone in pockets with keys and other metal objects frequently, chances are, your display won't get scratches.
I think screen protectors can help with screen glare, and fingerprints on your screen but, if you don't have usable vision, that stuff won't matter to you anyway. JMO.
