I am the poster who started this thread. I owe a apology, or adjusted update to my original question.
My wife tells me this morning that her ios 8 upload occurred because her phone a 5s froze, and based upon previous apple advice, she simultaneously pushed the home key and the button on the upper right of her phone. (sorry, I don't know the proper term for hat button) When the phone restarted, she said the update to ios 8 was initiated. So what exactly did she do to create this circumstance?
