I'm not going to bother with a refund because I like the app overall. When I contacted them they said this is something to do with Apple restricting the duration of sounds used in notifications. When I challenged them they said other apps must do it a different way but they didn't know how. On the positive side they said they would look into the sounds again now iOS 8 is here and is more open to developers.

The thing that disappointed me was that it said it had the Big Ben chime.

However, if you choose that, you get a single gong at the quarter, half and
three quarters passed the hour, or the entire chime sequence with a single gong
on the hour. So, I guess it is always one o’clock with this app.

It is misleading to indicate you have the Big Ben chime, when in every other
app and with any clock that has the chime, you get the appropriate portion of
the app for each part of the hour and the gongs strike one for each hour on the
hour with the entire melody.

I requested and received a refund from the app store.

Richard

I got the app other day as well. It's not going off for me right now. I'll have
to check to see why. It was before so I don't know what happened. I did set my
schedule for 6 AM to 10 PM each day.

Hi

Like you, I also bought the app yesterday. Some interesting observations for me was the fact that you have to choose between voice and audio signal. Both can not happen, but not a stopper for me though. What I would have liked more is the fact that the audio signal chosen, would indicate the real hour, e.g. striking 8 times for 8 o'clock. This does not happen though, so if one were to choose only the audio signal for the hourly anouncement, you would not really know what the time is, unless you had the voice option set up for any other anouncements, like the half hour and so on. Another interesting thing is that, if I set it up to go to sleep at 8 o'clock at night, it will still anounce the half past 8 time slot, after which it will go to sleep. It's also interesting that the clock control is a different voice from the one you can choose to anounce the hour. I have chosen the male voice, and that particular one only works on the options you choose to let him speak, but not
in the clock control option where you can actually hear the time. It still is
a nice app, in my opinion, especially as one can set the times for the clock to
actually work, and also can silence it with the do-not-disturb option under
settings.

I just purchased qoo. Yes the app is free but for 1.99 you get more sounds and
no ads. The link follows.

Have you tried Qoo which is free and works quite well at least on my end. The
app is easy to use, all controls speak no problem with VoiceOver and there are
different sound themes as well as two voices to choose from. That's q o o not c
or k o o.

I want to apologize for steering anyone wrong with my recommendation of the
timely app.

As I mentioned in my previous message, I was very upset about chime no longer
being in the App Store. It seemed at first, as if timely would solve the
problem. However, it doesn't seem to maintain the settings. I have received a
refund and I am going to try to get chime from my computer.

I hope that other people can do the same. and the iTunes will let us all
restore it. If not, maybe someone else will have better luck at finding a
substitute than I did. I tried a few and none of them were good.
