Well, now I have to admit I just figured it out. I can now transfer individual songs from an album by finding the list of songs not the name of the album and then selecting all. Use the menu key and then add to play list and select my phone. What confused me is that I tunes does not give you an audible indicator that it is transferring or one that sounds when it is done as it used to do. I tunes is not very consistant with letting you know when things are happening audibly.
