I wouldn't expect this to change. Unlike a PC/Mac, I don't think the OS
resides in the user's storage. I must admit, I haven't researched this
though. BTW, as an iPhone 4S user, I haven't noticed that I have any
less space after the upgrade. In fact, I freed up some space by doing a
restore to factory settings and restoring from a backup.

I have a 4s. On Saturday I updated from IOS 7.1.2 to 8.1 and today I
updated to 8.1.1. I am very happy with the update. I have encountered no
stability issues at all. With 8.1, it was a bit sluggish, especially in
mail, but the update to 8.1.1 seems to have fixed that. Performance with
8.1.1 is a little decreased as compared to 7.1.2 but not enough to be
bothersome.

I updated to iOS 8.1.1 and the voiceover performance has improved. I am
using the iPhone five. I suppose it is going to work out great for iPhone
4s
users as it was focused specifically for it according to what the update
says.
