Hello, I have my own ring tones, that I created, and recently, I've been able to get them to my mac, and sync to my iPhone 5s running iOS 8.1.1. I am running Yosemite on the Mac, and the latest version of iTunes, I don't think Apple will stop letting users at their own ring tones, at least I don't believe it. Sent from my iPhone
