Hi Robin, you make a really important point. With all the extensability features added in iOS 8, there is still no Siri API. Imagine if you could ask Siri to read the latest John Grisham from Bookshare, which could cause Voice Dream to spring into action, tune into your favourite local station, which could cause TuneIn Radio to open, "Call me a taxi to pick me up", which could cause a taxi app to open pre-populated with your current address...the possibilities are endless. Apple doesn't like being behind. It has the resources to fix Siri, which is clearly an offering not keeping pace, and I'm sure it will. There's so much more room for intelligent use of natural language to be explored as well. But Siri absolutely needs an API. An interesting footnote to my audio piece is that yesterday afternoon a few hours after recording it, I asked Siri how much the 11-inch Macbook Air weighed. Siri performed a web search and showed results on the screen, but when I asked the same question of Google Voice Search, it spoke me the precise answer. It was impressive on Google's part.
