Ah, the beauty of the rotor again! Only thing is that when I am swiping or
tapping around I toggle what the rotor is set on so I continually turn
sounds on and off, etc. I'm laughing. I'll just keep touching around to
shortcut vo and see what kind of lag there is!

I discovered something interesting today. I went into a
Utilities folder the former user must have created. Voice memos, calculator,
compass and contacts were in there. I'm not even sure what app I opened
except after awhile I seemed to be in an edit field and later when I was
trying to close everything and app switcher wasn't saying anything was open,
I swear I was still in an edit field and it appeared as if I was in Safari.
I swiped up with 3 fingers even though vo was not giving me any feedback and
finally got out of the edit field and closed whatever I had inadvertently
opened. Anyway, no matter which apps search field I was in, I found the
letters easily. This leads me to ask if the keyboard is easier to use in
some applications than others, or might I be approaching the possibility of
actually being able to find the letters I want? I even saw that I could
flick and run through the letters, vo spoke the shift key and more numbers
etc.

Subject: Re: shortcut hints

That is a hint. Hints are spoken about a second after whatever you touch, if
a hint is present. You don't need to wait for the hint before you keep
moving, though.

To disable hints, go to Settings > General > Accessibility > VoiceOver, and
double tap the "speak hints, on" switch button to turn it off. This will
disable all hints, though, which I don't recommend for new users or for
anyone if a major upgrade has just been installed. You can miss messages
that tell you what some button or other control does, and hints for even
basic things can serve as a reminder on what to do if you forget.

Your other option is to put Hints in your rotor. This way, you can rotor to
Hints and flick up or down to turn them on or off, letting you enable them
when you need to. From VoiceOver's settings, find Rotor and double tap. Find
Hints, double tap so VO says it is selected, and you're done.
