It takes a bit of practice, because the bar codes are very small. You may
have to slowly back away from the item to be scanned, to a distance of 8
inches or so. Move the camera with a steady hand, and the key is, slowly!
When you're almost right on the bar code, Digit-Eyes will give a beep, and
then if it finds the bar code, it will begin to read the result that it
found in the database through the Internet.

I noticed on my 5S running iOS 8.1.2 that it is much faster than it used
to be.
They do keep working on it and the database of codes is one of the most
complete there is.
But, it will never be as fast as a stand alone barcode reader like the ID
Mates. But, $19.99 compared to $1,250 or so is worth being a bit slower.
There are, apparently, some Bluetooth scanners that will interface with
DigitEyes but they are not cheap. They have information on their web
site.
