Using these kinds of features are how I spend a lot of time in my life. I love
looking at the text so to speak, meaning how something is written, punctuated,
etc. I don’t know what my priorities are with the phone anymore. I’m almost
ready to chuck the old cell phone and go for signing up with some carrier. I
really want to be able to dictate messages and use the audio feature.

I’ve asked this before and never got an answer. Can I use more
than one phone at a time? For example I don’t have a data plan or minutes on
this old 4S and I could opt to just get a new phone with my current carrier
and use that for phone and whatever else I like. That won’t force me to
inactivate the one I’m currently using, will it? I know that this is not the
case if you are staying with the same carrier and have a cell phone already.
You can’t be using 2 phones but then as I say the phone I have right now
doesn’t even have a plan on it. Can I have 2 IPhones with a plan on it, that is
if I could afford that? …hmmmm, another thing, I might just see how Facetime
works today.

                Happy New Year.

You don't have to worry about copying out quoted sections from a book. Even up
to an entire chapter, which is why Kindle, Nook, and iBooks can give you a
chapter to sample before buying.

You most definitely cannot copy an entire book and send it to someone. That is
clearly illegal, not to mention immoral.

But, you can copy as much as you want for your own uses, so no worries.

It does take some trial and error to get the hang of highlighting and or
copying quotes from a book in Voice Dream, but once you get the hang of it, it
is a fabulous feature.

You can even write your own notes tied to a highlight and export them as a text
file for yourself.

Happy reading,

Richard

I saw that option to select text within voice dream which I was surprised by
since sharing the text with others is against copyright laws according to the
long preface to all Bookshare downloads. Then, if as you are saying you are
simply highlighting and taking notes, those “fingerprints” (or do they call
them “watermarks”) don’t come into play! On my computer I do what you do all
the time. Using the phone and VD will be interesting, but then I’ll have to see
how the clipboard works. So many things to explore!

To add a little to this, if the book comes directly from the publisher, as I
understand it, there is no scanning involved. They donate the electronic copy
of the book, so unless there are mistakes in the printed version, you will not
find any in the "publisher quality" books on Bookshare.

I personally have found a lot of books that I prefer reading with Voice Dream
than listening to the human read audio voice. It is great being able to
highlight passages and then export those highlights to a text file so I have
the ability to discuss the book with others and have notes taken directly from
the book.

Voice Dream is easily my favorite and most used app.
