Hi all:

I'm building a terminal server for use as a VirtualGL enabled terminal
server. However, I don't know what to use for a graphics card. This
will be a 1U server mounted in a server room. I intend to set up Xen
on the hardware, and configure it to pass this graphics card through
to the VirtualGL terminal server, so it will never actually be used as
a head (no monitor attached); only the onboard graphics interface will
have a monitor attached, and that will be "connected" to the Xen Dom0.

So, the question is what graphics card to use for VirtualGL. My
vendor was recommending selecting from:

PNY Quadro FX 580 PCI-E 512MB, GDDR3, Dual Link DVI, Dual Display Port
PNY Quadro FX 1800 PCI-E 768MB, GDDR3, Dual Link DVI, Dual Display Port
PNY Quadro FX 3800 PCI-E 1GB, GDDR3, Dual Link DVI, Dual Display Port

Of course, the cost difference between them is fairly large :). Do
these cards look good? I'm not sure what the differences are, or more
importantly, how the differences will effect my end use, if at all, so
I'm looking for some general suggestions, and if possible, some rough
mapping to "end effects when used with VirtualGL".

My VirtualGL use case will be:

Terminal server serving up to 10 concurrent sessions
1-4 users probably running compiz
1-4 users running some in-house OpenGL apps.
Using VGL Image Transport to thin clients.
Possibly 1-2 sessions on TurboVNC Occasionally.

Thanks!
