Hmmm... how did it get that far off? Some Operator with a self-wind wristwatch (implying that lack of motion by the operator slowed the watch). :-)
We used to have PROFS users complaining that their PROFS Reminders were popping late, making them late for meetings. That was back on a 3083 or so, when the TOD clock drifted a couple minutes every week. We sent little 1.5" round LCD clocks to stick on the edge of their 3270s (it was "a while" ago). One thing you can do is change the time on the HMC, and then the next time VM is IPLed it should pick up the new time. That's good to do regardless. Before doing the following, ask yourself how important the current time is on that VM system... and then ask yourself how much you trust the time source that shows you to be 6 minutes off. Shortwave radio station WWV is a pretty accurate source. :-) >From a Class A user issue CP DEFINE TIMEZONE CST WEST 05.54.00 that will set CST to be 6 minutes sooner that the TOD clock shows, adjusting the epoch offset to give you your right time. CP SET TIMEZONE CST that will cause every virtual to receive an interrupt and message: hh:mm:ss HCPTZN6759I The time zone has changed to CST. How each virtual machine handles the interrupt is something you'll have to learn from others on the list. There has been recent discussion of VSE interrupt handling just this week. The next time you IPL VM, the normal SYSTEM CONFIG timezone_definition should return you to "CST WEST 06.00.00", and pick up the HMC TOD change.
