Sorry, no - that command is for use with VM's virtual coupling facility.
It transmits the same time to all guests connected to a coupling facility
virtual machine (causing an interrupt that requires a re-IPL, IIRC).

Thanks alot for responding.

I will confess, I made the Change to tod and I set it
wrong. I am [if you didnt already know] am really
green to z/vm and sysprog stuff in general. A little
background, I was a cobol programmer and was asked to
back up the sysprog, just incase something happened to
him they might have someone to place a call to service
or something. Well our Sysprog is now gone and they
offered me the job, I took it and I openly admit,
admit I am way over my head. I am a fast learner and
Love a good challange. I plan on fighting this till
they make me stop. This list has been a great source
of info and I thank all for the help.

Back to my question,

I set the clock wrong, having never done it before I
shut down all my VSE's [that are guests] and issued a
shutdown on the vm console. I then proceeded to my
HMC and issued a LOAD. at the load prompt from the vm
console it asked me if I wanted to change the tod. I
said yes and aswered the messages. after i put in the
date and time I waited and waited .....
I then realiezed that I needed to enable tod from the
hmc. I then proceeded to the HMC and Enabled the TOD.

The console then asked me again if I wanted to change
the tod. this time it was correct so I replied no.

But, 6 min had passed since the start of all this and
now my time is off.

I was reading in the vm manual and it refers to a
command

SET VTOD TIME HH:MM:SS

I was hoping that someone could tell me that If i
issued this at the console I could adjust the time "on
the fly" and It wouldnt have any problems.

Thanks again,
