Al,

CA's VM:Backup HiDRO can do this with the DUPLICATE function. You can
either run this under VM using *one* virtual machine to perform 32
simultaneous DUPLICATES with a single job stream containing all the
duplicates to be performed (as one finishes another will start) ... as
noted in another reply if you do this with DDR you will need *32*
virtual machines. OR, you can IPL HiDRO standalone in an LPAR and run
the DUPLICATEs on "bare metal".

You could also perform a DR type full system backup using the HiDRO
BACKUP function, then just use the HiDRO RESTORE function to move the
data to the new DASD.

Subject: DASD migration

We are doing a DASD migration from HDS to Shark.

I don't have the numbers on how many DASD I have to copy but is there a
product out there that would let me do this migration quickly? I was
thinking of IPLing a standalone VM and do DDRs on all the DASD but that
alone could also take a long time. Has anyone ever done a DASD
migration
and what kind of tools did you use?

TIA,
Al
