CPFMTXA has been playing well with 64 bit at least since we implemented our first 64-bit z/VM 3.1.0. My experience is restricted to 3390-03s, however. There may be a possibility of size or FBA related problems.

I did the format/allocate with CPFMTXA, which uses DSF under the covers, iircc. I then attached it to the guest, added it to the CP Owned list with DEF CP OWNED, and verified the space was active with Q ALLOC MAP. Finally, I added it to the SYSTEM CONFIG (same slot as DEF CP OWNED) to make sure it'd be there on the next IPL (and it is). Maybe the question I should be asking is, Does CPFMTXA play well with 64 bit? I can't imagine how it could factor in...but? John -- John Hall (+1) 727-397-6373 Safe Software, Inc.
