We used to use the following rexx to grab devices including a 01F
console. Not very nice to someone else using the console, but we did not
care. VSE was the priority.
/* GET_DEV - acquire a specific device */
trace off
arg address1
'EXECIO 1 CP (VAR REPLY STR QUERY' address1
parse var reply . . how . id .
if how = 'ENABLED' then 'CP DISABLE' address1
if how = 'DIALED' then 'CP DETACH' address1 'FROM' id
if how = 'LOGON' & id = userid()
then 'CP FORCE' id
if how = 'LOGON' then 'CP DISABLE' address1
if how = 'WAITING' then 'CP DRAIN' address1
'EXECIO 0 CP (STR CP ATT' address1 '01F'
return 0

At our shop we run with VSE dialed consoles on PCOMM emulated 3270
sessions.
VSEs run as guests under z/VM 3.1.
We have the capability of doing work from home via VPN.
The question is: if we need to remotely do VSE maintenance (e.g..: #CP
RESET 01F and
#CP DIAL 01F (from home) then doing an AR REIPL NOPROMPT at the VSE
console, is there anyway to reattach the
VSE console to the Operator’s PCOMM session (i.e.: without having to
send them an emoil/msg that they have to do a redial after we remotely do a
%RETURN (or is it %RESET (or *CP RESET 01F?)).
TIA
