One one of my PCs I have Suse 10 installed. I think this is the one that I will try WINE for running Quicken and Turbotax.

They are being pressed by the FOSS community. Linux is getting better and better, even for desktop use (although games are still a sore point as best as I know). PostgreSQL and MySQL are getting better and more powerful. IMO, OpenOffice is wonderful (Word/Calc/Impress/Draw). Apache always beat the pants off of MS/ISS both for performance and security. The EU is really pressing on interoperability (at least so far they seem to be taking a tough stand - unlike the DOJ here in the U.S.) If there were a non-MS shop, I cannot think of any reason to not standardize on Linux. I might even consider some of the BSD variants for server functions. There are only three products on Windows that I cannot easily replace. One is Intuit's Quicken (GNUCash is just too difficult). The second is Intuit's TurboTax with eFiling. The last is Visio (which is now owned by MS <blech>). -- John McKown Senior Systems Programmer UICI Insurance Center Information Technology This message (including any attachments) contains confidential information intended for a specific individual and purpose, and its' content is protected by law.
