Thank you all for your responses. I was pretty sure LogMsg_File was used in the context you all mentioned.
We are in the midst or our annual audit and the auditors want us to start using this feature. I am pretty sure they don't
have a clue as to what it is used for. They saw the words LogMsg and thought that it should be logging something.
We have it disabled so this caught their eye even more.
The folks on this list are a very clever group and I wanted to be sure some one had found a new use for LogMsg.
Again thanks.
Steve G.

I don't use LogMsg_File, but I have been using CP SET LOGMSG for over 20 years.  :)

We warn users about planned outages, that's pretty much it.  We deliberately set the size of even small messages to 34+ lines so that when it displays on a 327x mod 2 or 3 it will result in MORE or HOLDING to give the user the opportunity to read it (in case their PROFILE EXEC does a VMFCLEAR or otherwise causes the message to clear before they can read it).

LogMsg_From_file

Does anyone on this list use the LogMsg_File feature in the SYSTEM CONFIG file and if so what are you doing with it?

I know what it's for.  I'm just wondering what people are doing with it.

Thanks,

Steve
