I remember a case where with my old compiler (5.2) we had to check for a null pointer 
before flushing.  Also the fileno macro is definitely broken in this version of DEC C, 
so I'll look for things like that.  Sorry to be AWOL the last couple of days, but our 
RAS was down the entire weekend )-:.
