If you'll recall there had been a request for folks putting together
binary distributions of perl for VMS to be able to run an IVP. Since
development perl ships with more that 18,000 individual unit tests it
seems to make sense to make use of as many of those tests as we can,
subject to the expectation that some will fail owing to the relative
setting of @INC in begin blocks in many tests (particularly those in
[.t.lib]*.t).
Toward that end I took a build tree from an unmodified perl@9125
kit, built it, ran tests with one failure reported in [.lib]sigaction.t,
then I installed it into a PERL_ROOT that was different from my build
tree. From within the build tree I made a save set of the [.t...] tree
using:
$ backup/log [.t...] t.sav/saveset
I then copied t.sav over to another volume, ran the @perl_setup to get my
PERL_ROOT defined to point to the installation location, then I set def'ed
over to the other volume unpacked things:
$ backup t.sav/save [...]
$ set default [.perl]
But I found that I had to copy a few things over:
$ copy build_disk:[perl]vmspipe.com []
$ create/dir [.vms]
$ copy build_disk:[perl.vms]test.com [.vms]
$ copy perl_root:[000000]perl.exe []
$ copy perl_root:[000000]perlshr.exe []
OK so now comes the actual test. In addition the failure of
